Daily Craig: They spoiled the election

With 1% of the votes counted every one named Hillary or Donald has won. In some cases, the TED got a win. All of this news came to us :48 after the polls closed. Some polls in Houston didn't shut down until way after 7pm because (WAIT FOR IT) The election dudes didn't anticipate the big turnout. The same people who decided we should have ballots in Vietnamese. Sorry. But now the Germans, Japanese, and Koreans are upset. ONE TV STATION in town (not ch. 2) kept calling TEXAS,  "the Lone Star State". I get the Lone Star nickname thing but it is TEXAS. THAT SAYS IT ALL. I didn't hear broadcasters referring to Ohio as "THE ONE NEXT TO INDIANA State".

My personal experience was good. We have moved in the last 6 months so I had a new district and a new place to vote. An elementary school. i was stopped at the front door and asked if I was going to vote. I, of course, am hard to deal with, so I said "No, I am enrolling". The lady was not amused. I was and that is all that counts. It occured to me while watching the little kids marching to lunch, I should have joined them. It was early in the day but according to many news outlets, the primary was already over. The kids were just finishing their fish sticks and we had our candidates.

Declaring the winner so early in the evening is like figuring out the baseball game is over after the first 3 pitches. Or deciding the TEXANS will lose when Brian Hoyer comes on the field to warm up. OK, bad example. Or maybe when the Rockets take the court against Golden St. or heck, even Milwaukee. OK, maybe calling elections early isn't so weird afterall. I still think Adlai Stevenson would have been a good President. He was from the "Prairie State".
