It was a lively Sunday for sports types. If you live or care about the greater HOUSTON area, you had 4 choices at once when it came to hitting that TV REMOTE It was easy early. The Astros were finishing a series in Milwaukee and I was all over that game. You and I both thought Dallas the Keuchel was in trouble and as it turned out he sort of survived the 1st inning. Then the BIG GOLF EVENT in Georgia came on and I, along with millions, figured the Dallas kid named Jordan would walk , chip, and putt his way to back to backs..what a story. He let an Englishman beat him. We had a revolution to avoid that.
The other choices were the Dynamo and the Rockets. I have to admit of the big 4 sporting tv events , i had soccer third and the Rockets fourth. It is not easy to admit but as we head for the mid April playoffs, the ROCKETS ARE an after thought.. They beat the Kobe group by 20 but who cared? I saw a headline that read "Rockets remain in playoff chase". No, they don't . You don't want to see that. The chance of following what LES ALEXANDER does in the off season will far surpass any thing we have seen so far. THE ROCKETS don't matter. Given all the drama, they STINK. The Dynamo let another one get away by giving up a tying goal in the 94th. So Texas types in this area were 0-4 while watching Sunday TV.
The Astros will have their home opener tonight against the Royals. That will be fun but a 2-4 season start isn't that thrilling. And as my son told me. "I hope the ASTROS don't buy into the hype that the ROCKETS DID". My kid is pretty smart. I dont want to type THE ASTROS STINK at any time this year.
