Daily Craig: Let's take a stab at this

It's the Ides. That is my last reference to the Roman thing. I HAVE BIGGER TALES TO TELL and as you know, some of them are true. A friend had planned a mild sporting vacation for his 2 boys as spring break was rounding third and heading for home. He had 3 really swell tickets for last Saturday night's Dynamo game but decided at the last minute to give them to a buddy because "who wants to see a 1-1 or something like that? It's un-American to have a game end in a tie. His buddy was happy for the tickets.

THE DYNAMO were more than hot as it turned out. They scored 3 times in less than 30 minutes and went on to trash FC DALLAS 5-0. The Dynamo could do no wrong. Advantage my pal's pal.

The other part of the sporting spring break was in Florida. A one game trip to where the Washington Nationals train in Viera, Florida. AS LUCK and a little homework would have it the other team was the family favorite. Yep, THE ASTROS.  The family settled with the traditional 8 dollar drinks and 6 dollar hot dogs (which were the same temperature as the drinks) to watch what Dad told them was "Real American sport, none of that tie nonsense". OOPS.

Carlos the MAGNIFICENT homered in the 1st and the vacation was solid. But there would be no more scoring until the NATS TIED IT on a bases loaded hit batsman in the 6th. Who wouldn't spend money to see that?  As it turned out dad forgot to tell his boys there are ties in baseball. Every spring. No team wants extra innings in pretend games. The final was a soccer like 1-1. Now dad is thinking his soccer tickets next month are looking pretty good. I gotta take some extra grounders, or maybe some corner kicks.
