I checked in on the TEXANS news conference yesterday. Rick Smith has kept his job. Bill O'Brien wants to start working immediately, Bob NcNair is still very rich, and the new guys said all the right stuff. The newest Texans did say some things that stumped me. The richest QB in team history said the "Texans are a great team". The newest running back said "I know the Texans are a great team". The 2 new linemen just wanted to know how long Pappas Steak House would be open. They are on to something. "Great" isn't what I would define the local Pro Footballers. 2 OVER .500 ISN'T even "really good", but I get that they wanted to start their careers here on a positive note, even if it sounded ridiculous.
Brock Osweiler said being benched for Peyton late in the season "didn't bother me at all". Those in the know in Denver say it did. A lot. I don't care as long as the kid comes through when the team starts real games. He said games are won during the week, "not on Sunday". Oh No. The Texans better schedule 16 THURSDAY NIGHT GAMES or the kid will be wrong.
I know he meant preparing is the key but let's face it, games are won on Sunday and Thursday and Monday.But for the first time in the last 3 or 4 years the team has a QUARTERBACK who will sell replica shirts. That is a big deal. The team probably told him as he entered NRG the carnival isn't here year round. You will get to your lockers o.k.
