According to a CFISD press release, Johnson’s family has always spent a lot of time in the kitchen. With the help of his stepdad, he perfected his recipe and brought to school to share with his teachers and friends.

Suddenly, Johnson had many requests for his creations and Jake’s Atomic Salsa was soon a thriving business.

He sells his four unique concoctions according to level of hotness for $5 a jar. The names of each salsa, Molecular, Fore-shock, Aftershock, and Radioactive also relate to his career goals of becoming a geologist.

Johnson spends his weekends purchasing ingredients, cooking and labeling the jars. He has created a Facebook page to promote his products and has accrued around 80 customers.

All the proceeds go to his college savings fund where he aspires to pursue a degree in geology.
