Crooks steal high-end appliances from million-dollar home

$20K worth of appliances stolen

HOUSTON – Thieves broke into a million-dollar home last week in the 900 block of West 41st Street in the Garden Oaks neighborhood of Houston and stole nearly $20,000 worth of appliances.

The home is currently vacant and the man who built the house said the owners are living overseas. It was move-in ready until last week when the crooks broke in through a back door.

The thieves reportedly unhooked all of the appliances on the first and second floors. The refrigerator, wine chiller, microwave oven, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer were taken.

Surveillance cameras at the home across the street show a dark colored pickup truck pull into the driveway and leave a little while later with the appliances sticking out the back.

This isn't the first time Local 2 has reported a crime like this.

Last week, a home in West Harris County had its air conditioning unit taken, while other homes in the same neighborhood had appliances taken from inside.

Police continue their investigation.
