Teens testify in 'Money Mike's' sex assault trial

HOUSTON – On day two of Michael McIntosh's sex assault trial, more teens took the stand to tell their story.

So far in this trial, one thing is clear: All of the girls say they went to McIntosh's Friendswood home without being forced, and they wanted cash from him.

One girl was asked, "Did you go to his room and talk to him?" "Yes" she said. "I don't remember what he was asking me in the room, I just remember the after part and he told me I was a good kisser."

The girl continued, "I was on Xanax bars, so a lot of my memory isn't clear. I went in and met and talked. He asked me how much money I wanted for the acts I'm about to do. Then we had sex and he gave me the money and I left."

The state says as many as five teen girls were involved in the sex ring, and they walked away with hundreds of dollars over the course of several weeks during the summer of 2013.

"I think as we go along we will continue to get inconsistencies of what happened, who was there," McIntosh's attorney, Charles Thompson said.

McIntosh, also called "Money Mike," is charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child. Some of the girls told the court that they lied about their ages. One girl was actually 14 but told McIntosh she was 18.

Police say McIntosh, who was 62 at the time, persuaded a 17-year-old girl to help him lure teenagers to his house from Clear Springs High School and Clear Creek High School. The girls, who were between the ages of 14 and 17, would perform sexual favors in exchange for money.

Police say McIntosh was a "regular" at Hooters, Bone Daddys, Twin Peaks and other restaurants. Investigators said the restaurants were simply meeting places and that nothing inappropriate happened there. McIntosh was a wealthy man who would leave large tips of $100 or more to befriend the young waitresses and hostesses. That is how he met the 17-year-old, authorities say.

The girl, who was a hostess at a local restaurant, said he used a certain method to gain their trust. She said that after McIntosh gave them cash, he would offer to fill their up cars with gas. He would then invite them over several times to hang out before making sexual advances.

He convinced the 17-year-old to bring other "easily manipulated" girls to his house. Police say he paid several girls thousands of dollars and that his teen helper got a cut of the cash.

During Tuesday's hearing, state prosecutors asked one of the witnesses, "What kinds of things would you do with the money?"

"Buy food, purses, jeans, a tanning membership," she replied.

Some Local 2 viewers have tweeted and asked about the girls' parents and what they thought was going on when the girls were visiting McIntosh's home. The two girls on the stand Tuesday said they lied about their whereabouts.

"There was a time I fell asleep and my mom went through my purse and found a thousand dollars and questioned me about it. I told her I was holding the money for my friend," said one witness.

If convicted, McIntosh could face up to 20 years behind bars.

The trial is expected to go through the end of the week.
