Woman trapped after car crash in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – A woman had to be extricated from her vehicle after a two-car accident in northeast Houston.

It happened Saturday at around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Elysian Street and the North Loop feeder road.

According to Houston police, two people were traveling in a white SUV northbound on Elysian when it slammed into a car with two occupants traveling eastbound on the North Loop feeder road.  

Police say one of the drivers ran a red light, but both drivers claim to have had the green light.

There were no witnesses.

The crash sent both vehicles off the roadway and into a concrete pillar.

One woman was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by the Houston Fire Department.

She was then taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.
