Thief roughs up 75-year-old Spring woman

A 75-year-old northwest Harris County woman was the victim of a home invasion over the weekend.

The crime happened Sunday at about 11:30 a.m. on the 17500 block of Mossforest Drive in the Pine Oak Forest subdivision, not far from F.M. 1960 and Interstate 45.

"She suffers excruciating pain in her joints and he shoved her around knocked her down and tied her arms behind her back," Robert Hill, the victim's husband said.

The crook may have anticipated an empty home. Hill had just left for church when the crime occurred.

"The way it's been going is that they watch for you to leave," Hill said.

The robber, left the scene, and had not been located as of Monday. The victim is recovering at home.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office reports that four burglaries and one robbery have been reported on Mossforest Drive since January 1, 2014.

There has been similar trouble on some of the other eight streets that comprise this small subdivision of less than 300 homes.

"I'm scared just to stay out here," said Robert Patida, who is wheelchair-bound, said.

Hill, who is the homeowner's association president of the Pine Oak Forest, is asking neighbors to be extra vigilant. He also wants more help from either the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Harris County Constable Precinct 4 or both agencies.

"We don't have enough money to be able to afford one of those (contract) deputies, but we do need the help," Hill said.

Local 2 contacted both agencies asking for the procedure to request additional patrols.

Precinct 4 has an online form for extra patrol available to some neighborhoods, but not others.

Pine Oak Forest is not included, but your neighborhood may be, especially if your HOA uses a contract deputy.

The Harris County Sheriffs Office, which has a storefront bordering the Pine Oak Forest neighborhood, suggests citizens who want extra neighborhood patrols contact deputies at local storefronts.
