Slain woman's husband stops cooperating with police

Edlyn Villegas Munoz found dead along bayou

PASADENA, Texas – Local 2 Investigates has learned the husband of a slain Pasadena woman has stopped cooperating with police.

A police source told KPRC Local 2 that Camilo Zermeno skipped a scheduled voluntary interview with investigators Wednesday and has hired a criminal defense attorney.

Zermeno has not been charged with a crime in connection with his wife's death, nor has he been named as a suspect.

Edlyn Villegas Munoz's bruised nude body was found along Vince's Bayou in Pasadena on New Year's Day.

The 36-year-old mother of seven was just days away from obtaining her real estate agent's license.

Zermeno told Local 2's Joel Eisenbaum in an interview Monday he got into an argument at a city of South Houston strip club with his wife because she did not want to leave.

Zermeno said he left the Show Palace in the 1400 block of Spencer Highway without her and that was the last time he saw her.

Reached Wednesday by phone, Zermeno told KPRC Local 2 to contact his lawyer, Sam Adamo, and hung up.

Adamo had not returned the phone call by 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
