Man shot 5 times in home invasion

HARRIS COUNTY – A man is recovering after he was shot several times during a home invasion in east Harris County.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says at least one gunman broke in around 2:45 a.m. Friday.

Deputies say the victim called his landlord to say that a man had knocked on his door, came inside and shot him five times in the chest.

The landlord called his daughter in a panic, and she's the one who called 911. Officials say there was about a 45-minute lapse in time between the incident and when the 911 call was made.

The sheriff's office says the victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.

The gunman was gone by the time deputies arrived.
