Harris County deputy beaten up by alleged theft suspects

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Harris County sheriff's deputy was beaten up by three men in north Harris County.

It happened at a park Wednesday afternoon on the 6700 block of Cypresswood Point and Dappled Ridge Way.

Officials say a deputy responded to a report of keys being stolen by three 17-year-olds from the pool at the park Tuesday.

Authorities say the victim saw the teenagers return and called deputies.

The deputy arrived and put one of the teens in his car and attempted to arrest a second. The second teen got loose by hitting the deputy and ran away. The suspect in the car also somehow managed to escape the car.

Deputies eventually located the two teens and arrested them. Officials say they are looking for a third suspect.

The deputy suffered minor injuries but is expected to be OK.
