Bank robbery leads to gunshots in broad daylight

Deputies capture two suspects, one still on the loose

CROSBY, Texas – A bank robber and a police deputy exchanged gunfire in broad daylight outside a Crosby bank Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said a Harris County sheriff's deputy spotted two men running out of the Community Bank of Texas at 14100 FM 2100 around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

When the deputy tried to stop them, one of the men shot at him, then both suspects ran away.

Moments later, investigators said the alleged robber and his accomplice stole a truck being serviced at a nearby dealership and led police on a series of chases. One of the suspects was reportedly dropped off at an apartment and picked up by a person in another vehicle. Deputies said one of their officers chased that car, but eventually lost sight of it.

It was then that a Texas State Trooper spotted the car and was able to take two suspects into custody.  They continue to look for the third suspect; police believe he was the man who shot at the deputy.  Deputies said he is most likely driving the stolen black Ford F-150 truck taken from the dealership.

No one inside the bank was injured, but customers and employees said they were threatened at gunpoint.
