Crew member rescued after going overboard from cruise ship

GALVESTON, Texas – A crew member was rescued after going overboard the Carnival Cruise ship Magic.

The ship was off the coast of Galveston when the rescue happened at about 10:35 p.m. Saturday.

The U.S. Coast Guard told Local 2 they were called to rescue the man from the water. But before USCG could arrive, the cruise ship's crew had already launched a rescue boat and pulled the man from the water. 

He was in the water for less than 45 minutes.

The cruise line said the man jumped overboard.

The Coast Guard said the man is OK.

The Carnival Magic docked in Galveston Sunday morning.
