If you've ever looked at a pair of shoes and thought you could design something better, here's your chance.
A business in Spring lets you paint a pair of your own custom shoes.
Lena LeDay has combined her love of shoes and creating them to form a business where you can design your own piece of wearable art.
Her shop is called the "The Unique Slipper" and each shoe is one of a kind.
You can can choose from high heels, flats or booties.
You pick out your shoes, your paint colors and get them after it.
Cousins Kathy Ingram and Trisha Eskew meet at "The Unique Slipper" to paint and visit while they make their shoes.
"It's just a lot of fun," said Ingram, "It's relaxing. It's something to look forward to and you walk away with an outstanding product that's going to be fun to wear."
It's also totally unique and that's what owner LeDay is banking on!
"I always loved fashion, I always loved shoes," LeDay said. She added, "I have a huge infatuation with shoes and I love to paint. I would draw, sketch and paint on anything. So just to be able to combine the two is truly a dream come true."
LeDay says so far she gets a variety of ages and painting abilities in her shop.
How did LeDay get the idea for her business?
"I had a friend who was going to prom and she was kind of matchy-matchy," said LeDay, "She wanted a pair of shoes to match her dress perfectly so I painted her a pair."
After that she began painting shoes for friends and for extra money. Her dream for "The Unique Slipper" was born and so far it's taking off.
LeDay hosts private events and parties and if you're not a master painter, don't worry.
"It doesn't matter," said Eskew, "I'm not a good artist at all. Lena will take what you can do and try to help you perfect it where it's wearable."
The cost is $34 for the flats and the rest are $54.
