HOUSTON – Houston Astros legend Craig Biggio will be on the National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot.
The Baseball Writers Association of America will officially announce the ballot on Wednesday. The results will be announced on Jan. 9 and the induction ceremony will be held on July 28.

"Craig Biggio is an iconic player who is deserving of being a first-ballot Hall of Famer," Houston Astros owner Jim Crane said. "He is a superb representative of the organization, the city, the fans and the game of baseball."
Biggio, a second baseman, spent his entire career with the Astros, from 1988 until his retirement in 2007. He stayed with the team in an executive role, working as a special assistant to the general manager.
Biggio received the Golden Glove award in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997. He was name. He won the Silver Slugger award in 1989, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1998. He was selected as an All-Star seven times.
His uniform number, 7, was retired by the Astros in 2008. He was the Astros' Most Valuable Player in 1995, 1997 and 1998.
Jeff Bagwell, Biggio's teammate, will also be on the ballot for a third year. The last time a set of teammates went into the Hall of Fame representing the same team was 1974, when Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford were inducted.
