CYPRESS, Texas – A Cypress woman is in jail, accused of assaulting a child with an umbrella and a curtain rod.
Christina Maria Mitchell was charged with injury to a child.

According to court documents, Mitchell struck the child with an umbrella and a curtain rod and caused serious injury. The alleged beating happened on April 29 and Mitchell was arrested the same day, according to reports.
Court records only say that the child was under the age of 15, but Harris County police said the girl was 14. She allegedly told a neighbor that a family member had struck her, but it is not clear what Mitchell's relationship is to the girl.
A judge set the woman's bond at $10,000.
