HOUSTON -

Police are searching for two men who carjacked a couple in north Houston.

Houston police said the crooks broke into an apartment near Bush Intercontinental Airport around 2 a.m. Friday. That's when the thieves forced the couple into their own SUV at knifepoint and told them to drive to several ATMs around the area.

As they did this, investigators said the male victim was able to jump out of the SUV and asked for help at a nearby apartment complex.

Officials said the suspects later abandoned the SUV and left the woman near an open field on Gears Road and Ella Boulevard.

The woman told officers she believes they were targeted because overnight she purchased drugs. She believes she was followed back to her apartment.

Officers used a helicopter and K-9 unit to search for the men, but were unsuccessful.

The two suspects, described as black men, remain on the loose.
