Cougars ready to break in new home in style

HOUSTON – UH is looking for its fifth season-opening win in the last six seasons. When the Cougars kick things off Friday against UTSA, expect a raucous atmosphere at the new TDECU stadium.

The newly-built stadium will seat at least 40,000 spectators. The Cougars recently took a tour of their new digs.

"TDECU is amazing," UH offensive lineman Rowdy Harper said. "We got to go in there Saturday and just to see the huge lights, the Jumbotron that we have. It's just amazing to go into.

Quarterback John O'Korn has bulked up in his second season under center. But coaches and players agree that the sophomore has become more of a leader in the offseason.

"He's got the respect of every young man in our program," Houston head coach Tony Levine said. "But it's something at that position the spotlight is always on you."
