People are not only showering their dad's with love this Father's Day, but also expensive gifts.
According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, consumers are expected to spend on average $125.92 for the holiday. That number is up from last year's $115.57.
Total spending is expected to rise to $14.3 billion. The total is still below spending for Mother's Day at $21.4 billion.
Breaking down what exactly people are spending money on, the survey found 47 percent are planning to splurge on dinner, brunch or a fun activity/experience. Clothing and gift cards are also popular gifts behind special outings.
The National Retail Foundation surveyed 7,200 consumers for the survey from May 2 to 10.
