WASHINGTON - More than 69,000 grills are being recalled because of a burn hazard.
Federal safety officials announced the recall on Thursday.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall involves 69,300 Char-Broil® Gas Patio Bistro® Grills. Two models are included in the recall: the model 240 Full Size grill (11601558, 11601558-A1, 12601558 and 12601558-A2) and the model 180 Table Top grill (12601713).
Officials said the electronic ignition on the grill can ignite unexpectedly.
Char-Broil has had more than two dozen reports of the flame going out and unexpectedly reigniting when the control knob was turned off. Officials said of the 26 reports, there were four reports of burns, including one with burns to the nose, chin and hair, and seven other reports of "burned" or "singed" hair.
The grills were sold nationwide at Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Sears, Target, True Value and online from Amazon.com from September 2010 to June 2013.
Consumers with one of the two recalled models should immediately stop using the grills and contact Char-Broil for a free repair kit. Call the company at 1-866-671-7988 or click here for more information.
