A construction accident at Texas A&M's under-renovation football stadium has left at least one worker dead after he fell about four stories.

According to Texas A&M officials, Angel Garcia, an employee of Lindamood Demolition, was immediately taken to St. Joseph's Regional Health Center after his fall around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

University police spokesman Lt. Allan Baron told KBTX-TV that the accident happened Tuesday morning at Kyle Field.

“On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away,” said Texas A&M University President R. Bowen Loftin.

According to A&M officials, The Texas A&M System, Manhattan-Vaughan Construction, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Texas A&M University Police Department will continue the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Kyle Field is undergoing $450 million in upgrades to put in new grass and expand seating from 82,600 to 102,500, making it the largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference.
