Construction to start, exit ramp to close along West Loop

TxDOT: Shutdown begins Wednesday

HOUSTON – Drivers who pass a very busy area in northwest Houston should be aware of a road closure that will last for the next two months.

Beginning Wednesday morning, construction will start along the 610 North Loop and Highway 290 Corridors.

The Texas Department of Transportation has put up signs warning drivers that the eastbound exit to Ella Boulevard will be closed.

A contractor will begin to place new pavement on the eastbound mainlanes.

Once the project is completed, that ramp will be a two-lane exit.

The exit closure begins Wednesday at 6 a.m. and runs through July 15.

Drivers trying to get to Memorial Hermann Hospital, Kindred Hospital, Lowes and other establishments on the north side of the Loop will be forced to continue down to the Shepherd/Durham exit and make a U-turn.

TxDOT is advising drivers to take earlier exits to save time during commutes.
