HOUSTON -

A shake up in the Houston Fire Department has some concerned.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker released a memo Tuesday restructuring who reports to which department.

Under the Parker’s new report system, the Houston fire chief will now report directly to the City’s chief operating officer and the EMS director will report to the City’s chief development officer.

The mayor’s office says the new reporting system was a result of staff requirements.

The president of the Houston Fire Union told Local 2 that he believes this is the Parker’s first step of bringing the EMS division under the City’s control.
