HOUSTON -

Family and friends Friday afternoon gathered to pay their final respects to Harris County District Attorney Mike Anderson.

The Harris County District Attorney lost his battle with cancer last week. He was 57.

Anderson took office in January, and revealed in mid-May that he was being treated for cancer.

The Republican had a long career in law enforcement. He spent 17 years as a prosecutor in Harris County and 12 years as an elected state district judge.

The First Presbyterian Church at 5300 Main Street hosted Anderson’s public memorial.

Anderson, a Pasadena native, is survived by his wife and two children.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Big Brothers Big Sisters or the Harris County Drug Court Foundation.
