Husband rides tire down to rim during police chase with wife in car

HOUSTON – A man who was attempting to flee from police led officers on a chase in northwest Houston while his wife was in the car, according to Houston police.

An HPD officer spotted the car the couple was traveling in speeding on Campbell at Long Point around 1:30 a.m.  The officer attempted to pull the car over, but the husband refused to stop.

The man led police on a short chase before striking a curb and blowing out a tire near W. 18th Street and the North Loop.

The man continued riding on his rim for a while before he finally pulled into a parking lot and gave up.

Police said the man fled because he had an outstanding warrant for a DWI arrest.  He now faces felony evading charges.

His wife was not charged.
