Coast Guard rescues injured man from boat

Man fell and broke his leg and arm

HOUSTON – A Coast Guard crew had to rescue a 45-year-old man from a boat 14 miles off the Texas Point Wildlife Refuge Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., officials at Sector Houston-Galveston received a report from a 120-foot boat called Poppa John. A crew member fell and broke his leg and an arm. He was experiencing extreme pain.

A Station Sabine 45-foot response boat crew with an emergency medical technician met the boat as it got closer to shore.

Once the man was transferred to the response boat, he was taken to Station Sabine where emergency medical service workers were waiting.

He is reported to be in stable condition.
