Coast Guard rescues 12 after catamaran sinks off coast of Freeport

HOUSTON – Twelve people were rescued by the Coast Guard after their 60-foot catamaran sank and they were left treading water.

It happened around 9am Tuesday about 14 miles from Freeport. The captain of that boat was able to call for help before the boat sank.

When Coast Guard crews arrived, they say they found 12 people wearing life jackets, floating in the water, but no sign of the boat.

Luckily, no one was injured.
