Coast Guard nabs $1 million in cocaine

Ship crew tipped off Coast Guard

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard and other federal agencies removed more than 85 pounds of cocaine from a ship off the Galveston coast on Christmas Eve.

According to the Coast Guard, the crew of the oil tanker Godavari Spirit notified them of a suspicious package hidden aboard their ship.

The Coast Guard and several other agencies met the ship offshore.

According to the Coast Guard, 31 packages of cocaine, valued at more than $1 million, was discovered and seized.
