SUGAR LAND, Texas -

The Houston Coalition Against Red Light Cameras is launching a pledge drive to put an end to the photo enforcement of traffic lights in Sugar Land.

Michael W. Goodrum, Executive Director for the city of Sugar Land, says the Sugar Land Police Department has until January 3, 2014 to respond to the Traffic Safety Task Force's recommendations. This is in regards to Sugar Land's red light camera enforcement program.

If the Sugar Land Police Department does not recommend that the program be terminated or placed on a ballot for a public vote, The Houston Coalition Against Red Light Cameras says they will look into legal options.

The coalition says their initial goal is to raise pledges of at least $5,000 for the commencement of legal action should the city council fail to act on their demands.
