Clerk lured intro bathroom, robbed

Armando Sosa charged with aggravated robbery with deadly weapon

HOUSTON – A convicted sex offender is accused of robbing a clerk after luring him into a bathroom at a convenience store in northwest Houston.

Court records read Armando Sosa is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $40,000 bond.

"Keeps us all on edge, we're here every day," said Walter Castillo, a frequent customer of the Stop N' In store on Blalock where police said the robbery occurred on Nov. 8.

Castillo said the clerk was always very friendly.

"Very nice guy, easy going, always saying friendly stuff like 'hello,'" said Castillo.

Investigators said Sosa was also a regular customer of the store, lured the clerk out from behind the protective glass that surrounds the cash register and back to the store's bathroom.

Court records read Sosa "used a knife to cut (the clerk's) hands and throat," and then "took $5,000 in cash from the register."

The clerk survived the attack and police said he was able to pick Sosa's face out of a photo line-up.

Court records show Sosa has a prior conviction for indecency with a child.
