Christmas came early this year for two needy families in the Houston area.
Bates Collision Center in Baytown surprised two single mothers with refurbished cars.
The company said they chose the women because of their responsible parenting practices through their Harris County Department of Education Head Start Program.
"As long as there are needs in the community, we want to be there to help out," co-owner Lee Bates said. "We are already 15 years into this tradition, and we hope to continue for another 25 cars or more."
Belinda Martinez is one of the mothers who received a car.
Currently, she must depend on others for transportation. Martinez and her 4-year old daughter often walk to get to their destinations.
"Receiving this vehicle would be the biggest blessing anyone could give me," she said. "I would help me better myself and help me be a more supportive parent."
