HOUSTON -

An investigation is underway after a chemical spill was reported at Ben Taub General Hospital early Tuesday morning.

Houston firefighters responded to the scene just before 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews found a liquid medical waste disposal pipe that was leaking in the basement of the hospital.

A Hazmat team was called to the hospital and helped temporarily stop the leak.

No patients had to be evacuated because of the spill.
