Chemical leaks after train derails near Navasota

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas - Hazmat is on the scene of a train derailment in Grimes County, where a chemical is leaking near Navasota.

The Grimes County Sheriff's Office tells Local 2 that seven to eight cars of the Union Pacific train derailed shortly before 8 a.m. Monday on Highway 6 south of Highway 105. A chemical called diethanolamine is still leaking.

Deputies say there were no injuries, and as of right now, there are no plans for any kind of evacuation or shelter-in-place.
