HOUSTON -

The female driver who police said led them on a chase in west Houston early Tuesday morning has been charged after an innocent driver was killed.

It happened on Westheimer near Eldridge around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials said three vehicles were involved in the crash.

Investigators said 18-year-old Dalia Iris Alparo was thought to be driving suspiciously when police tried to pull her over. She didn't stop and ran a red light at the intersection of Westheimer and Kirkwood.

Two people suffered minor injuries at that intersection.

As police continued to try and stop her, she ran another red light at Westheimer and Eldridge, hit two cars and then slammed head-on into a cement truck.

A male driver in one of the cars died at the scene. His family identified him as 29-year-old Natividad Alaniz, III.

Officials said Alparo was injured and remains at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in good condition.

Alparo is charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and murder. Bond was set at $80,000.

She has several priors, including two this year for evading arrest and possession of marijuana.
