Two suspects are in custody and two others are on the run after a police chase in Pearland.
Pearland police said it all started around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday when four armed suspects robbed Nick’s Corner Store on Orange Street.
Police said officers saw the suspect’s vehicle on Telephone Road a few minutes after the robbery was reported.
Authorities said police chased the vehicle to Almeda Genoa and then West Orem before the suspects crashed at the intersection of Sandrock and Park Village in southwest Houston.
Police said the suspects got out of the car and took off. Two suspects were taken into custody.
"The manager had just come back from the bank and four individuals pulled in a van pulled up. Two guys got out and proceeded to assault him. They were able to rip a bag away from him and then fled in that same van with an undisclosed amount of money," said Lt. Onesimo Lopez of the Pearland Police Department.
Lopez told Local 2, "We're not exactly sure why this individual was targeted. But it was coincidental that he was coming back from the bank so that is something that we are looking at."
Lopez says the clerk was assaulted during the robbery but should be okay.
Houston police officers are assisting Pearland police in the search for the remaining two suspects.
KPRC’s Ryan Korsgard will have an update on this developing story on Local 2 News at 5.
