Charges filed against inmate who injured deputy during flee attempt

HOUSTON – A man accused of assaulting a deputy in a courtroom during an attempted getaway appeared before a Harris County judge Friday as charges were added.

David Adams has been charged with second degree assault.  He was already in the 183rd courtroom Wednesday where he was being taken into custody for a probation violation.

According the probable cause documents, Adams ran out of the courtroom and into the hall just as the deputy was coming out of another courtroom across the hall. Adams allegedly charged the deputy, knocking him over.

The deputy hit his head on a marble floor board and had to receive several stitches for his injury.

Adams was quickly taken into custody and is now being held without bond.
