The Battleship Texas Foundation in partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the commissioning of the mighty Battleship Texas.
The 2014 festival will honor the Battleship Texas and her legendary history, and pay tribute to the surviving crew members who served on the ship during World War II.
It is the only battleship left that was used to fight in both World War I and World War II.
People who attend the festival can enjoy music from Robert Earl Keen along with children’s activity zones, gourmet food trucks and a fireworks show.
The festival will be held Saturday, March 15 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Tickets are available in advance and at the gate. General admission tickets are $14 in advance and $20 on the day of the festival. A discounted price is available for veterans: $8 in advance and $15 at the gate.
In addition to Saturday's celebration, there will be a private reunion for crew members on Wednesday. The ship will reopen to the public at 1 p.m. following the event.
