Caught on camera: Thief snatches jewelry out of hand

HUMBLE, Texas – A man stole a ring set out of a jewelry store employee's hand, and it was all caught on camera.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Anthony Ross went to the Zales store in the 6700 block of East F.M. 1960 in Humble on Aug. 13 and asked an employee to model some of the more expensive rings.

Detectives said Ross also got another clerk involved and seemed very interested until he grabbed a $6,300 engagement ring set out of an employee's hand and made a run for it.

Ross then went to a pawn shop on the northwest side and sold the set, deputies said. Ross used his real name during the sale, officials said.

Ross is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond, charged with two counts of theft, one count of theft from person and one count of robbery.

Ross' criminal history includes convictions on charges of driving while intoxicated, credit card abuse, theft, drug possession and auto theft.
