Caught on camera: Teens break into drive-through twice

La Favorita Taqueria targeted on Aug. 17, Aug. 28

SOUTH HOUSTON, Texas – Two teenagers broke into a restaurant through its drive-through window two times, police said.

Surveillance cameras were rolling when the two walked up to the drive-through La Favorita Taqueria in the 400 block of Spencer Highway on Aug. 17 and on Aug. 28.

City of South Houston police said the teenagers broke the glass in the drive-through window. The smaller teen managed to squeeze through burglar bars, in an area that's about 1 foot by 1 foot, to get inside, officials said.

"They probably think there's money there, but there is not," restaurant owner Julian Garcia said.

The teens bolted out of the restaurant when the alarm started blaring.

Garcia said he's mad that the teens have tried to steal from him not once but twice.

"I feel angry," he said. "I also feel bad for the parents of those kids."

Police said they think the teens might be responsible for other burglaries in the area.

"It's a cause of concern," Police Chief Herbert Gilbert said.

Even though the teens didn't take anything, Garcia still wants action.

"They should have some kind of punishment, he said.
