Caught on camera: Teens beat delivery driver

HOUSTON – Five teenagers were caught on camera brutally beating and robbing a delivery driver on Houston's northwest side, police said.

The crime took place in broad daylight on the afternoon of Jan. 23.

"They got me down on the ground and they started kicking and punching me," said the 40-year-old victim, who asked to remain anonymous.

Surveillance cameras from the "O-Lan-O" grocery store, commonly known as "Orlando's," captured most of the crime.

Police said five teens, one of them a minor, can be seen on the footage. Through tips and leads, investigators have identified the suspects. For now, they remain at large.

"They are all students at Houston Can Academy. The school has been excellent, very cooperative," veteran officer, Frank Heenan, said.

The case has just been forwarded to Houston Police Department's warrant team and the teens should be arrested soon, Heenan said.

The victim in the case suffered a broken nose. Both his cellphone and his lunch were stolen.

In an interview with Local 2, he was dismayed why nobody stepped forward to help him.

"There was quite a few people in the cars, but nobody did nothing. Nobody even called police," the man said.
