KATY, Texas – Investigators are searching for the man who was caught on camera breaking into a dollar store in Katy.
The masked thief was caught on camera stealing hundreds of dollars from Dollar Planet on Katy Mills Boulevard on Thursday.
The burglar was also caught on camera busting out the lock on the front door. Once inside, surveillance video shows the thief smashing cash registers on the ground until he gets the cash.
The video also shows the suspect using a hammer to break into the store's safe. Investigators said he also stole a computer from the store's back office.
Detectives said the man was in the store for about 40 minutes.
"This of all places is where everyone comes to shop nowadays, because we're getting good deals and the kids are going back to school," said customer Marjorie Coker.
