Three men are in custody, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a Northeast Harris county convenience store by tunneling through a check cashing business.
According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, the men pried open the front door of the check cashing business on East Little York Road near Aldine-Westfield Road just before 4 a.m. Monday. Deputies said the men went to the back and tore a hole in the wall to get into the convenience store next door.
Once they got in there, deputies said the men pried open the cash register and took $3,000. Then, they broke into a small booth and took the safe from inside, according to authorities.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived right as the suspects left. Deputies arrested two who walked out the front of the check cashing business and then caught the third trying to climb a fence in the back.
Deputies said the burglary suspects quite a lot of damage behind. As of Monday morning, investigators had not released what charges the men will face.
