HOUSTON – Three burglary suspects were caught in west Houston Monday after shooting at an officer during a chase, police said.
Investigators said an off-duty officer was working an extra job as security at the Memorial Ashford Townhall complex in the 14700 block of Pershshire at 8:40 a.m. when a woman ran up to him to say her home was being burglarized.
The officer tried to stop the suspects at gunpoint, but they were able to jump in their car and take off, officials said. A chase ensued.
A passenger fired at a shot at the officer as they cut through an Exxon gas station on Highway 6 and Memorial Drive, police said. No one was injured.
The three suspects were caught on War Memorial and Clay Road by Harris County Precinct 5 deputies.
The driver will be charged with felony evading. The suspect who shot at the officer will be charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer.
Their names were not released.
