HOUSTON – A shop owner was left with a big mess Thursday after an attempted smash-and-grab robbery, police said.
A truck slammed into a shop called Hollywood Food and Cigar at Montrose Boulevard and Bomar Street, police said.

They attempted to take the ATM, but it was in the back of the store and the truck they used to smash into the store did not reach that far, officials said.
The owner said nothing was taken and the would-be-thieves ran off before police arrived, leaving behind their truck, which was stolen.
It is unknown how many people were involved.
