Burglars break into Sellers Bros. grocery store

Suspects stole phones and laptop computers

HOUSTON – Several burglars busted into a northeast Houston grocery store and managed to escape with electronics, according to police.

The break-in happened around 3 a.m. Thursday at the Sellers Brothers store in the 1500 block of Little York. Police said two to four crooks busted in the glass of the front doors.

According to reports, there were several employees working inside the store at the time. One of them was able to call 911 when he heard the sound of breaking glass.

"The night stocking crew [...] was in the back, when they heard the front windows being busted out," said Lt. Larry Crowson, with the Houston Police Department. "They looked and saw several males crawling in the window. They ran to the back and called police on their cell phones."

By the time officers got to the scene, the suspects were gone.

"The suspects fled the area before officers arrived, and we're still trying to locate them at this time," Lt. Crowson said.

Police said they stole computer laptops, cell phones, and other electronics from a kiosk.  Police told Local 2 the suspects also tried to get into the ATM.

"They did try to pry open the ATM, but they were unsuccessful in that," said Lt. Crowson.

So far, no arrests have been made; however, police said they are hoping surveillance video will help them track down the thieves.
