HOUSTON - A Houston woman is grateful that she wasn't at home with her baby when crooks broke-in and stole electronics and jewelry out of the house. It happened Friday afternoon in the 5700 block of Inwood.
Sara Hillery told Local 2 she received a frantic phone call from one of her neighbors, who said she saw two men going in and out of the home.
At the time, Hillery was out shopping. She said her relatives, who were in the home at the time, had left to take her baby for a walk.
However, when the family returned home they found several of their personal belongings missing.
"We don't know how long they were here, but they were seen carrying stuff out the front of the driveway then took off," said Hillery.
It appears that the burglars broke through the front gate and then smashed a back window to get inside.
Hillery said they took electronics, a gun, and jewelry; things that she believed the burglars could sell easily.
The alert neighbor managed to take a photograph of what could be the suspects' vehicle before they drove off. The neighbor told police that the car appeared to be a dark colored or maroon vehicle with a paper license tag.
This isn't the first time that a home has been targeted in the area.
Two weeks ago, Hillery's next door neighbor's home was burglarized.
"As long as everyone is safe, that is all that matters," said Hillery. "Items can be replaced."
If you have any information about the break-in or a similar crime, call Houston police or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
