Buffalo Bayou park-goers seek better parking solution

Residents nearby also say there just isn't enough parking to go around

HOUSTON – Buffalo Bayou has seen a complete transformation over the past couple of months to the cost of nearly $60 million.

However, some residents who live in the area and people who frequent the park say there just isn't enough parking to go around.

The president of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Anne Olson, admits there is a problem.

"We are aware that the park has limited access on the south side of the Bayou just because we didn't have enough land to build the bridges, but we are really relying on people to walk and bike to the park," Olson said.

At the dog park on the corner of Allen Parkway and Montrose, there are only 17 parking places along the road.

Amy Bahlo said it takes a while to find parking.

"Yes, one time, yeah, yeah, 30 minutes because I was doing rounds," said Bahlo.

Meanwhile, there is a meeting scheduled Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Neighborhood Resource Center at 815 Crosby to discuss the issue and come up with solutions.
