Britta Merwin

Meteorologist

Britta is a native Texan born in San Antonio and joined the KPRC 2 Severe Weather Team in 2014.

She is a Emmy Nominated Meteorologist and a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist through the American Meteorological Society.  Britta studied Meteorology at Stony Brook University in New York graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences-Meteorology.

A self-proclaimed weather nut, Britta dreamed of being a meteorologist since the age of eight when her local meteorologist visited her school. Britta was raised in a military family but grew up mainly in Colorado crediting the state's dramatic weather for enhancing her love and passion for meteorology.

Growing up as a military kid and marrying a member of the US Coast Guard Britta has lived and forecasted in every region of the lower 48 states.

From spending countless hours in blizzard conditions in the Northeast to Tule fog in Northern California and tornado warnings on her first day here at KPRC 2 Britta has covered many types of weather.

Britta's professional resume includes the NBC Weather Plus Network where she forecasted and presented the weather for NBC Weather Plus, CNBC, CNBC World, Nightly News, MSNBC and the NBC affiliate in San Diego, KNSD. She served as morning meteorologist for CNBC's morning show Squawk Box. As the primary meteorologist for CNBC, Britta covered the devastating Midwest flood of 2008, Hurricane Gustav, and broadcast live from the NASDAQ for the show Fast Money.

Britta also served as a meteorologist for KCRA in Sacramento, California, News12 New Jersey, and News12 Long Island.

Although Britta is very passionate about meteorology her most cherished job is being a Mom. She and her husband have two sons and love calling Southeast Texas home.
