HOUSTON – The Houston Department of Health and Human Services has launched a breast milk depot where women can donate to help feed premature and critically ill babies.
The southwest WIC clinic, 6400 High Star, will be the first site in the area to house a milk depot.

According to the HDHHS, the milk will be dispensed by prescription to infants in need.
Women currently breastfeeding infants under the age of 1 are eligible for free screenings to become donors.
The depot started accepting donations Thursday.
